Enhancing the production of chlorophyll f in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803.

Summary: Plants and tiny green microbes use sunlight to grow, but they only use certain colors of light. Scientists are trying to teach a tiny microbe called cyanobacteria to use a new color: far-red light. To do this, they gave it a special tool to make a pigment called "Chlorophyll f". At first, the microbe only made a tiny bit of it. Now, scientists are using stronger tools to help it make much more. If it works, these microbes could grow faster and help make more food or clean energy for us!
