Evaluating PREPaRe (Promoting Readiness and Engagement in Pain Rehabilitation): A Randomized Controlled Trial of a Telehealth Motivational Interviewing Intervention for Youth and Families With Chronic Pain.

Summary: Dealing with chronic pain is tough for kids and their families. A special treatment program called IIPT helps them learn to manage the pain and get back to their normal lives. But getting ready for this intense program can be hard. Doctors tested a new video-chat coaching program called PREPaRe to see if talking with a counselor beforehand helps families get ready. They tested 78 kids and their parents. The program helped families feel more prepared and confident. While it didn't change their actual pain levels right away, the kids who used the PREPaRe program got better faster and got to go home from the hospital sooner!
