Evaluating the scale-up of the Play Active programme for children's physical activity in early childhood education and care services: a national type III hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial protocol.
Summary: Young children need plenty of active play to grow up healthy and strong. In fact, they should get at least three hours of physical activity every day, including an hour of energetic play! Sadly, many kids fall short of this goal. Since many children spend a lot of time in childcare, it is the perfect place to help them move more.
Researchers are testing a program called "Play Active" in childcare centers across Australia. They want to see if giving these centers special training and support helps teachers get kids moving. They will track the program for 30 months to see if it works, if the changes last, and if it is worth the cost. If successful, this program could roll out nationally to help kids everywhere stay healthy and active!
