Evaluating Visual Discomfort Among Robotic Urologic Surgeons: Insights from A Survey on Eye Strain and Accommodative Lag.
Summary: Robotic surgery is amazing, but it can be hard on the doctors' eyes! A new survey asked 74 robotic surgeons about their vision. Most of these doctors spend over an hour looking into the robot's screen during surgery. The results? Almost half of them get sore, watery, or dry eyes while operating. Many also get headaches or have trouble focusing their eyes after they finish. As doctors use these robots for more years, their eye problems often get worse. This shows that we need to build better, more comfortable robot screens to protect our surgeons' eyes!
