Exploring Fungal Abundance and WHO Fungal Priority Pathogens in Agricultural Fields: A One Health Perspective in Northeast Thailand.

Summary: Did you know that the soil where our food grows can hide dangerous fungi? Scientists in Thailand tested soil from rice, cassava, rubber, and sugarcane farms across 18 provinces. They were looking for deadly fungi that the World Health Organization (WHO) warns us about. They found these dangerous fungi in all types of farms! The type of crop mattered more than the type of dirt or rocks underneath. Sugarcane fields in one specific area had the most dangerous fungi. This shows we need to keep a close eye on farm soil to protect human health from these hidden threats.
