Exploring, walking, and interacting in virtual reality with simulated low vision: a living contextual dataset.

Summary: Crossing a busy street can be dangerous, especially for those with low vision. To help solve this, researchers have created "CREATTIVE3D," a massive Virtual Reality (VR) library. By recording people navigating virtual road crossings—sometimes while simulating vision loss—scientists tracked eye movements, body language, and heart rates. This collection of 40 hours of data and 2.6 million body poses serves as a "living" resource. It allows engineers and safety experts to study human behavior in depth, helping to design safer streets and better assistive technologies for the visually impaired without putting anyone in actual danger.
