Factors associated with regional differences in healthcare quality for patients with acute myocardial infarction in Japan.
Summary: When someone has a heart attack, getting excellent care quickly is a matter of life and death. A recent study in Japan looked at how well different regions treat heart attacks by checking hospital records across the country. They found big differences in survival depending on where a patient lives. People living in rural areas with older populations, fewer doctors, and poor access to major emergency heart surgery centers had a higher chance of dying. To save more lives, the study suggests we need better coordination of care, more doctors, and improved access to top-tier heart centers in these high-risk regions.
