Factors influencing smoking cessation in Lebanese patients with bladder cancer: A cross sectional study.
Summary: Most people know smoking damages the lungs, but few realize it is a major cause of bladder cancer. A recent study of Lebanese bladder cancer patients revealed a startling gap in knowledge: only 3% knew smoking was a risk factor before their diagnosis. While urologists play a key role—counseling significantly helps patients quit—success rates vary. Women and those with higher education levels were much more likely to stop smoking than men or those with less education. The findings highlight an urgent need for public awareness campaigns to warn people of the risks before cancer strikes.
