Families' Experience of Family Therapy by Videoconference During the First Lockdown: A Qualitative Study.

Summary: When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, many families had to switch their in-person family therapy to video calls. But how well did it work? A study in France asked eight families about their experiences. The results were a mixed bag. On one hand, doing therapy from home meant lots of everyday distractions, and some people felt they couldn't speak freely with everyone sitting so close by. Some even felt like the therapy was just "on pause." On the other hand, video calls were a lifeline during lockdown. They allowed busy family members to join in and helped families take more control of their own healing. In the end, while video therapy isn't perfect, it can be a great backup or add-on to regular office visits!
