FDA Approves Teva's Prolia Biosimilar Ponlimsi, Accepts Xolair Biosimilar for Review
Summary: The FDA just gave the green light to Ponlimsi, a new drug by Teva. It is a "biosimilar" to the popular bone-strengthening drug Prolia. Ponlimsi helps treat osteoporosis and builds bone mass, especially for postmenopausal women and people undergoing certain cancer treatments. Tests showed it works just as safely and effectively as the original drug. At the same time, the FDA is also reviewing another Teva drug that mimics Xolair, an allergy and hives medicine.
