FDA grants fast track designation to GLP-1 analog for knee osteoarthritis
Summary: The FDA is speeding up the review of a new drug called 4P004 for knee osteoarthritis. This drug is a GLP-1 medicine, similar to popular weight-loss shots, but it is injected directly into the knee. It is for people whose knees are swollen and who have tried at least two other treatments that didn't work. Doctors hope this new shot will do more than just stop the pain. They believe it can actually fight inflammation and protect the cartilage in the knee from breaking down. A study is happening right now, and we will know more by early 2027.
