Genetic and virulence analysis of carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa in farm animals in Shandong province, China: implications for human health.
Summary: Superbugs are a big problem for people, but where do they come from? Scientists tested farm animals in China to see if they carry a dangerous bacteria called CRPA. They found that about 5% of the animals had it. Even worse, the animal bacteria were often resistant to multiple drugs and were highly dangerous. When they compared the animal bacteria to human bacteria, they looked almost identical! This means these superbugs can easily jump from farm animals to humans. We need to keep farm environments cleaner to protect everyone's health.
