Gut microbiome differs according to C. diff symptom status
Summary: Have you ever wondered why some kids get sick from a stomach bug while others don't? A new study from Vanderbilt Health looked at a germ called C. diff. They found that kids who got sick from the germ had an unbalanced mix of gut bacteria. On the other hand, kids who carried the germ but didn't get sick had more of a healthy chemical called butyrate, which your body makes when you eat dietary fiber. This shows that having a balanced gut and eating your fiber might be the secret to keeping stomach infections away!
