Health-care costs among people who use methamphetamine in Australia.
Summary: Treating methamphetamine addiction costs a lot of money. This study looked at over 300 people in Australia to see how much different treatments cost. They found that going to a live-in rehab or a detox center costs more upfront than just getting counseling. But, people who got counseling ended up needing a lot more medical care later on, like hospital visits. In the end, rehab and detox save money on overall health care. People who inject the drug or have severe mental health issues cost the most to treat, so they need extra help to lower these costs.
