Health, economic, and environmental impacts of electric school bus adoption: A scoping review.
Summary: Kids who ride diesel school buses breathe in dirty air that can hurt their lungs and even affect how their brains develop. To fix this problem, many schools are starting to use electric buses instead. Researchers looked at 13 different studies to see if these new electric buses are actually helping. They found that electric buses do cut down on pollution, save money over time, and are likely much better for kids' health. However, schools need extra money to buy them, and there are still some mechanical problems to work out. Also, scientists need to do more research to find out exactly how much cleaner the air is inside the electric buses, especially in poorer neighborhoods and in countries outside of North America.
