Home for Families launches on-site mental health support for clients
Summary: Imagine trying to focus on your mental health when you don't even have a safe place to sleep. For many families in central Ohio, housing insecurity brings a heavy load of trauma, depression, and anxiety. To help, a local group called Home for Families has teamed up with Hidden Roots Mental Health. Together, they are offering free, on-site counseling to people facing homelessness.
A licensed social worker now meets with clients right at the housing office or online. Because the service bills Medicaid, it costs the clients and the housing charity absolutely nothing! This makes getting help super easy for families who are already going through the toughest times of their lives, removing long waitlists and bringing healing directly to where they already feel safe.
