How Does U.S. Life Expectancy Compare to Other Countries?

Summary: In 2024, life expectancy in the United States went up to 79 years. This is the highest it has ever been! But before we celebrate too much, there is a catch. When you look at other wealthy countries, their average life expectancy is 82.7 years. That means people in similar countries are living almost four years longer than Americans. Even with our new record, the U.S. is still falling behind its peers.
