How to reduce eye strain while watching TV
Summary: Watching too much TV can make your eyes feel tired, dry, and sore. This is called eye strain. It happens because staring at a bright screen makes you blink less, which dries out your eyes. Sitting too close to the TV won't ruin your vision forever, but it can make your eyes hurt more.
Believe it or not, the colors in your favorite shows matter! Shows with soft, neutral colors like Bridgerton are very gentle on your eyes. On the other hand, shows with loud, bright, clashing colors like RuPaul's Drag Race make your eye muscles work much harder.
To keep your eyes feeling fresh, try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. You should also keep a light on in the room, sit a safe distance away, and make sure your TV is at eye level so you don't have to look up.
