How to relieve sciatica pain
Summary: Sciatica happens when the long nerve running from your lower back down your legs gets squashed or hurt. It causes shooting pain, tingling, or numbness in your back, bottom, or legs. Most people get better in a few weeks without needing a doctor.
To heal at home, do not just stay in bed! Keep moving gently to help blood flow and heal the nerve. Use ibuprofen instead of paracetamol for swelling. Put an ice pack on the sore spot for the first few days, then switch to a heat pad. When sleeping, put a cushion between or under your knees to take pressure off your back. Avoid heavy lifting and twisting. If the pain does not go away or you have bathroom troubles, see a doctor right away.
