Hurricane season: Prepare and plan before a storm hits

Summary: Hurricane season starts on June 1, and it is time to get ready! Dr. Mike Ren from Baylor College of Medicine says you should plan your escape route and know where local shelters are before the roads flood. Make sure you have a two-week supply of your daily medicines. If your medicine needs to stay cold, get a cooler ready in case the power goes out. You will also need extra batteries for medical tools like CPAP machines, hearing aids, and wheelchairs. After the storm, stay out of flood water because it is full of sewage and chemicals. If your house gets wet, clean it quickly while wearing gloves and a mask so mold does not grow.
