Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Patients With Viral or Radiation-Induced Hemorrhagic Cystitis.
Summary: Imagine having a severely inflamed and bleeding bladder—a painful condition called hemorrhagic cystitis. This can happen after radiation therapy for cancer or from a viral infection. But there is a promising treatment! Doctors looked at 33 patients who received Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), which involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized room. The results were great: over 80% of patients saw their bleeding stop or significantly improve. Even better, more than half of them had no bleeding return for three whole years. The study shows that oxygen therapy is a highly effective way to heal the bladder and stop the bleeding.
