IgE-mediated allergy: a rare cause of chronic spontaneous urticarial with allergen-specific immunotherapy as treatment option - a systematic review with meta-analysis from China.

Summary: Chronic hives (urticaria) can be a miserable condition, often treated with standard antihistamines. But for a small group of patients whose hives are triggered by specific allergies (IgE-mediated), there might be another option: allergy shots, also known as immunotherapy. A recent review of 14 studies involving over 1,800 patients suggests that immunotherapy might work better than standard treatments, showing higher recovery rates and fewer relapses. However, the existing studies aren't perfect—none were "gold standard" placebo-controlled trials. While the results are promising for this specific group, doctors need higher-quality research before recommending this as a routine cure.
