Image based quantification method reveals differential patterns of lip desquamation associated with age and sex.

Summary: Dry, flaky lips can be annoying and affect how we look. Scientists have created a new way to measure lip peeling using simple photos instead of sticky tape. They looked at pictures of 1,000 people and found something surprising! For men, and for women over the age of 38, lip flaking actually decreases and gets better as they get older. But for women under 38, it gets worse before it gets better. The biggest difference between men and women happens when they are in their 20s. This new photo method makes it much easier to study lip health and create better lip care products.
