Impact of aminoglycosides on survival rate and renal outcomes in patients with urosepsis: a multicenter retrospective study.

Summary: When people get a severe urinary tract infection that spreads to the blood (urosepsis), doctors often use strong antibiotics to fight it. One type of antibiotic, called an aminoglycoside, is very good at killing bacteria but can sometimes hurt the kidneys. Researchers looked at 580 very sick patients in the Intensive Care Unit to see if adding this drug helped them survive or hurt their kidneys. They found that adding the extra antibiotic didn't change the survival chances much. The good news? It also didn't cause extra kidney damage. So, while it might not save more lives, it appears safe for the kidneys in these cases.
