Improvement of Parkinson's Disease Symptoms by Butylphthalide Through Modulation of Microglial Activation.
Summary: Parkinson's disease causes swelling and damage in the brain, making it hard to move and walk. Scientists tested a medicine called NBP on mice that had a condition just like Parkinson's. They found that NBP acts like a peacekeeper in the brain. It calms down angry brain cells called "microglia." Instead of causing damage, these cells change into a healing mode. Because of this, the mice given NBP could move much better and lost fewer brain cells. This shows NBP might be a very promising new way to treat Parkinson's disease!
