In ES-SCLC, Adding PD-1/PD-L1 Inhibitors to Platinum-Etoposide Consistently Improves Survival

Summary: Good news for lung cancer treatments! Researchers found that adding special immune-boosting drugs (called PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitors) to standard chemotherapy helps patients with a tough type of lung cancer live longer. They looked at six studies with nearly 3,000 patients and saw that this combination works much better than chemotherapy alone. It doesn't even matter which of the two immune drugs is used—both give the same great boost to survival! While there were some expected immune-related side effects, severe side effects didn't go up much when the new drugs were added.
