In vitro Reconstitution of Cytoskeletal Networks inside Phase Separated Giant Unilamellar Vesicles (GUVs).
Summary: Scientists use tiny fat bubbles called GUVs to study how human cells work. Real cells have patchy surfaces, but it is hard to make model bubbles that are both patchy and hold cell parts inside. This paper shares a simple new recipe. By mixing proteins, oil, and fat at a warm temperature, scientists can easily build patchy bubbles that trap important cell proteins inside. This helps researchers build "mini cells" to learn how our cells get their shape and move.
