Increasing Clinicians’ Knowledge About Climate Change’s Impact on Health and Healthcare Sustainability

Summary: Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital recently took a new training program to learn how climate change affects human health and how hospitals create pollution. Out of more than 2,500 doctors and psychologists, almost all of them finished the training. Most said it was very helpful for their own lives and their work with patients. Female doctors, as well as doctors who work in emergency rooms or allergy clinics, found it the most useful.

Many doctors even gave ideas on how the hospital could pollute less. A few grumpy doctors complained, saying they just want to focus on patients and can't change big hospital rules anyway. Overall, the training helped doctors learn more about the health risks of climate change and how they can help fix it.
