Interferon-Induced Transmembrane Protein 3 (IFITM3) Restricts PRRSV Replication via Post-Entry Mechanisms.

Summary: Imagine your body has a built-in security system to stop viruses. One of the main guards in this system is a protein called IFITM3. Scientists wanted to see how well this guard fights off a nasty pig virus called PRRSV, which causes huge money losses for farmers. By testing cells in a lab, they found that adding more of the IFITM3 guard stopped the virus from multiplying. When they took the guard away, the virus grew out of control! Interestingly, the guard doesn't stop the virus from breaking into the cell in the first place. Instead, it traps and destroys the virus after it has already gotten inside.
