Intra-Varietal Variability for Abiotic Stress Tolerance Traits in the Grapevine Variety Arinto.
Summary: Climate change is making it harder to grow grapes because of extreme heat and droughts. To help, scientists looked at 165 different versions (called clones) of a popular Portuguese white grape called Arinto. Over three years, they tested how well these plants handled bad weather without losing their yummy taste or producing fewer grapes. They found that measuring the leaf temperature was the best way to see which plants were handling the heat. In the end, they found 10 super-strong grape clones that can survive tough weather and still make great wine!
