Investigation of neutrophil infiltration in the acute canine atopic dermatitis model.

Summary: Atopic dermatitis is a very itchy skin problem that affects both humans and dogs. Scientists wanted to know if a specific type of white blood cell, called a neutrophil, plays a big part in causing this itchy skin. To find out, they tested dogs that are allergic to house dust mites. They checked the dogs' skin over a few days after exposing them to the mites. The researchers found that these white blood cells do show up in the skin between 1 and 4 days after the allergy starts. This helps us better understand how skin allergies work in dogs, which might also help us understand human allergies!
