Japanese version of the cancer needs questionnaire-young people (CNQ-YP-J): translation and preliminary validation.

Summary: Adolescents and young adults (AYA) fighting cancer face unique challenges that differ from those of children or older adults. Their physical development, social lives, and future plans are all impacted by the disease. To better understand these specific needs in Japan, researchers translated and adapted a specialized survey called the Cancer Needs Questionnaire-Young People (CNQ-YP).

They tested this new Japanese version (CNQ-YP-J) on 87 young patients. The study confirmed that the questionnaire is a reliable and accurate tool. It successfully identifies the physical and emotional support these young patients require. By using this tool, doctors and caregivers in Japan can now provide more targeted care and better support systems for young people living with cancer.
