Knowledge Utilisation Analysis: measuring the utilisation of knowledge sources in policy decisions.
Summary: How much do politicians actually listen to research when making laws? It is hard to tell because old methods of checking are flawed. This study introduces a new tool called Knowledge Utilisation Analysis (KUA). KUA helps researchers look at hundreds of online documents to see if new rules actually match the scientific facts. The creators tested KUA on Danish school and job rules from 2016 to 2021, looking at over 1,000 documents. This new tool will help us clearly see if our leaders are really using good information to make their choices.
