Latent Trajectories of Depressive Symptoms During a Transdiagnostic Partial Hospitalization Program.
Summary: Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs) are a vital bridge between staying in a hospital and regular doctor visits, treating people with various mental health struggles. In a study of over 2,600 patients, researchers tracked daily depression symptoms to see how people recover. They discovered that recovery isn't a straight line for everyone. While some patients started with mild symptoms and steadily improved, and others got slightly worse before getting much better, a third group started with severe depression and stayed that way throughout treatment. The study found that women and patients dealing with multiple psychiatric diagnoses were most likely to fall into this "hard-to-treat" group. This insight helps doctors identify who might need extra or different support right from the start.
