Lifetime incidence and age of onset of mental disorders, and 12-month service utilization in primary and secondary care: a Finnish nationwide registry study.
Summary: Did you know that most people will face a mental health struggle at some point in their lives? A massive study from Finland looked at the medical records of over 6 million people. They found that by age 100, about 77% of women and 70% of men will be diagnosed with a mental disorder. Many of these issues start when people are young, usually between ages 20 and 24. Anxiety was the most common problem. This study shows that mental health conditions are very normal and happen to almost everyone. It also proves that we need to look at regular doctor visits, not just special mental health clinics, to see the whole picture.
