Long-term outcome after treatment of large uveal melanoma.

Summary: Eye cancer can be scary, especially when the tumor is large. Doctors looked at nearly 400 patients with large eye tumors (called uveal melanoma) to see which treatments worked best over time. They compared two main options: a special type of radiation therapy and a surgery to remove the tumor after radiation. The good news? After three years, almost 90% of patients were able to keep their eyes, and the tumors were controlled in over 92% of cases! The surgery option actually worked slightly better for keeping patients' vision and saving the eye. This means there is high hope and highly effective treatment for people with large eye tumors.
