Longitudinal Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate Trajectories in Children with Type 1 Diabetes.

Summary: Kids with type 1 diabetes can sometimes develop kidney problems over time. However, doctors don't always agree on how often they should test these children's kidneys with a simple blood test. A children's hospital in Canada decided to start checking all their young diabetes patients regularly to see how their kidneys were doing. They tracked blood pressure, protein in the urine, and how well the kidneys filter blood to figure out which kids needed to see a special kidney doctor.
