Low-sludge partial nitrification enabled by carbon-nitrogen decoupling and encapsulated biofillers.

Summary: Cleaning wastewater usually creates a lot of messy sludge, which is hard to get rid of. Scientists found a new way to clean water with much less waste. They used special tiny beads (called biofillers) and separated the carbon from the nitrogen in the water. First, they took out most of the carbon. Then, the special beads helped good bacteria eat the nitrogen without making much extra waste. This new method cuts down the messy sludge by over 93% and works really well!
