Mavacamten Granted Priority Review for Adolescent Symptomatic oHCM
Summary: The FDA is fast-tracking a review for a drug called mavacamten (brand name Camzyos) to help teenagers with a serious heart condition. The condition, called obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM), causes the heart walls to become too thick, making it hard for the heart to pump blood. In a recent study, the drug safely helped teens aged 12 to 17 by improving their heart function and reducing the thickness of their heart walls. The FDA will make its final decision by September 2026. This could be a game-changer for teens dealing with the physical and emotional stress of this heart disease.
