METHOD FOR PREVENTION OF COAGULOPATHIC BLEEDING DURING SURGERY FOR MECHANICAL JAUNDICE.

Summary: Surgery is risky enough, but for patients with "mechanical jaundice" (where a blockage prevents bile flow), the danger is doubled. The liver dysfunction caused by the blockage often disrupts the body's ability to clot blood, leading to dangerous bleeding during and after operations. Doctors in this study tested a proactive solution: administering Levocarnitine (L-carnitine) intravenously before surgery. The results were clear—patients receiving this treatment showed significantly better blood clotting markers within just 24 hours compared to those who didn't. This simple addition to the surgical protocol helps "stiffen" the body's defenses, making surgery safer for these vulnerable patients.
