Methodology of easy-to-use horizontally centrifuged platelet-rich fibrin as a topical treatment for equine ulcerative keratitis in 5 horses.

Summary: Horses sometimes get severe eye sores called ulcers, and owners often want to avoid surgery. Vets tried a new, easy treatment using the horse's own blood. They spun the blood in a machine to make a healing mix called H-PRF. They used it as eye drops, a solid patch, or a mix of both. In a test with 5 horses, 3 healed very well. However, 2 horses with fungal infections got worse and had to have their eyes removed. The blood mix had lots of healing factors, especially when the solid and liquid forms were combined. But vets noticed that common pain medicines might make the healing mix less effective.
