Millions of breast cancer patients could safely avoid chemotherapy, study suggests
Summary: Millions of breast cancer patients might be able to skip chemotherapy, thanks to a new DNA test. The test, called Prosigna, looks at 50 genes to see if the cancer is likely to come back. In a big study, two-thirds of patients got a low score and safely skipped chemo, using only hormone therapy instead. Their survival rates were almost exactly the same as those who got chemo! Doctors call this a "game changer" because it saves women from brutal side effects like hair loss and extreme tiredness when they don't actually need the treatment.
