MIRACLE2 Risk Tool Accurately Predicts Neurologic Outcomes After OHCA

Summary: When someone’s heart suddenly stops outside of a hospital, doctors need to know if their brain will recover. A recent study tested a tool called the MIRACLE2 score on 770 patients. It turns out, this tool is excellent at predicting brain health after an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Over 54% of these heart emergencies happen right at home, and bystanders often step in to do CPR. The MIRACLE2 score helps doctors figure out the chances of a good recovery, beating out many older tests.
