Mobilizing for Health: A Case Study of Kazakhstan's Vaping Ban Advocacy Campaign.
Summary: In Kazakhstan, more and more kids were starting to vape. In fact, youth vaping jumped from 1.6% to 5.8% in just a few years. Worried about this growing health risk, a group called the Smokefree Kazakhstan Coalition decided to take action. Starting in 2021, they used social media, petitions, and public meetings to fight for a total ban on vaping. Even though the wealthy vaping companies fought back hard, the health group won! After 32 months of hard work, Kazakhstan officially banned vaping in 2024 and even made it a crime to sell them. This success story shows how people working together can protect kids and change the law for the better.
