Music Therapy Helps Preemies Heal Faster

Summary: Premature babies in the hospital are getting a special kind of medicine: music! At Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s, experts use humming, singing, and guitar playing to help tiny babies heal. It's not just a concert, though. The music therapist carefully watches the babies' heart rates and breathing monitors to make sure they stay safe and calm. This music therapy helps the babies' brains grow, makes them eat better, and helps parents bond with their newborns. Even though it works great, many hospitals don't have it because it costs extra money. Luckily, 14-year-old twins Joey and Ryder Corleto, who were born early themselves, just gave $20,000 from their bar and bat mitzvah gifts to pay for the music therapy!
