Olivia Kim-McManus, MD, discusses genetic testing, therapy in pediatric neurology

Summary: At the 2025 Child Neurology Society meeting, Dr. Olivia Kim-McManus talked about how genetic testing is changing how we treat kids with brain conditions. For children with severe epilepsy that doesn't respond to normal drugs, the cause is often in their genes. By getting a genetic test, doctors can find the exact problem and choose the best treatment for that specific child. This is called personalized medicine, and it even includes exciting new gene therapies! However, Dr. Kim-McManus warned that we need to make sure all kids have equal access to these important genetic tests.
