Onset of workplace conflict, incident cardiovascular disease and changes in biomarkers.
Summary: Have you ever had a major disagreement with a coworker or boss? It turns out that workplace drama might actually be bad for your heart. A recent study looked at over 2,700 workers who didn't have any conflicts at work when the study began. Over time, about 10 out of every 100 of these workers started experiencing conflicts at their job.
The researchers found that the workers who developed workplace conflict had a higher chance of getting heart disease later on. They also had higher levels of a stress-related protein in their blood called fibrinogen. So, keeping the peace at work isn't just good for your mood—it might actually help protect your heart!
