Outcome selection and role of patient reported outcomes in contemporary cardiovascular trials: systematic review.

Summary: When doctors test new heart treatments, they conduct clinical trials to see if the medicine works. Ideally, these studies should measure things that matter directly to you—like whether you live longer, feel better, or have fewer symptoms. However, a review of over 400 heart trials found that researchers often focus on medical statistics rather than the patient's actual experience. In fact, in 70% of the trials where asking the patient about their symptoms or quality of life was crucial, researchers failed to do so. This means many heart treatments are being approved without fully understanding how they affect the daily lives of the people taking them.
