Outcomes following CD22 CAR T-cells in B-ALL: a tale of two manufacturing strategies.
Summary: Imagine you are baking a cake. You can mix the ingredients by hand in a bowl or use an automatic mixer. Both ways give you a delicious cake, but the automatic mixer might be a little gentler and less messy. Doctors looked at a special cancer treatment called CAR T-cell therapy for leukemia. They compared making these cancer-fighting cells the old-fashioned way (in bags) versus using a new automatic machine called Prodigy. They found that both ways worked just as well to fight the cancer! However, the patients who got the cells made by the automatic machine had lower signs of swelling and irritation in their bodies. This means the new automatic machine is a great, safe way to make this life-saving treatment.
