Ozempic (Semaglutide) Tablets Available Nationwide Starting May 4

Summary: Starting May 4, 2026, a new Ozempic pill will be available nationwide for adults with type 2 diabetes. You might already know this medicine as Rybelsus, but it has been reformulated into a smaller pill with a new name and new doses (1.5mg, 4mg, and 9mg).

Just like the shot, the new Ozempic tablet helps control blood sugar, lowers the risk of major heart problems, and may even help with weight loss. For people paying out of pocket, the medicine will cost between $149 and $299 per month depending on the dose. If you are currently taking Rybelsus, make sure to talk to your doctor before switching, as the old and new pills are not exactly the same.
